Main Functions
Achieving Floor Drainage and Integration into the Same-Floor Piping System
The floor drain grate collects surface wastewater (shower water, washing machine drainage, mopping water, etc.) and discharges it vertically downward into the HDPE branch pipe within the sunken slab (drop slab). This avoids the complex routing required for horizontal side outlets and is particularly suitable for bathrooms with larger sunken slab spaces.
Integration into the Siphonic System for Negative Pressure Drainage
After connecting the vertical floor drain to the siphonic horizontal branch pipe or vertical short pipe, it utilizes the siphonic negative pressure (-0.05 to -0.08 MPa) to achieve high-velocity full-bore drainage (3-6 m/s). The drainage efficiency is higher than traditional gravity drainage, making it ideal for high-flow scenarios (such as shower areas and kitchens).
Maintaining Water Seal for Odor Prevention
It features a built-in or external deep water seal (typically 50-70 mm or greater water seal height). Under siphonic negative pressure conditions, the water seal is not easily drawn dry (especially when combined with a vent cap or multi-channel design), effectively preventing sewer odor backflow and meeting hygiene standards.
Collecting Surface Wastewater and Rapidly Discharging It
The grate quickly collects accumulated water and directs it through the internal trap into the vertical outlet, preventing prolonged water pooling on the floor. Some designs include filter baskets or odor-prevention cores to block hair, debris, or foreign objects from entering the pipeline directly, reducing the risk of future blockages.
Facilitating Cleaning and Maintenance
The cover is removable, allowing the internal trap to be taken out for cleaning. The vertical downward outlet makes inspection and maintenance convenient within the sunken slab's pipe shaft, without the need to damage the floor slab or lower-floor ceilings—maintenance is completed entirely on the same floor.
