Main Functions
Achieving Floor Drainage Without Penetrating the Slab
The floor drain's outlet connects horizontally sideways to the HDPE branch pipe, allowing water to flow horizontally into the siphonic main stack or horizontal trunk pipe. This avoids vertical penetration through the floor slab, fully realizing the principles of "drainage and maintenance on the same floor, independent property rights, and no disturbance to lower floors."
Integration into the Siphonic System for Negative Pressure Drainage
After connecting the horizontal floor drain to the siphonic branch pipe, it utilizes the siphonic negative pressure (-0.05 to -0.08 MPa) to achieve high-velocity full-bore drainage (3-6 m/s). The drainage efficiency is significantly higher than traditional gravity floor drains (up to 3-5 times greater), making it ideal for high-flow scenarios (such as showers, laundry rooms, and kitchens).
Maintaining Water Seal for Odor Prevention
It features a built-in or external deep water seal (typically 50-70 mm water seal height). Under siphonic negative pressure conditions, the water seal is not easily drawn dry (especially when used in conjunction with a vent cap), effectively preventing sewer odor backflow and meeting hygiene requirements.
Collecting Surface Wastewater and Rapidly Discharging It
The floor drain grate collects surface water (shower water, washing machine drainage, mopping water, etc.) and quickly directs it through the internal trap into the branch pipe, preventing water accumulation. Some designs include odor-prevention cores or filter baskets to stop hair, debris, or foreign objects from entering the pipeline directly.
Facilitating Cleaning and Maintenance
The floor drain cover is removable, allowing the internal trap to be taken out for cleaning. The horizontal connection makes inspection and maintenance convenient within the same-floor pipe shaft or ceiling space, without the need to damage the floor slab or lower-floor ceilings.
